L'Orien

Sold to a wonderful new owner! L'Orien will be continuing his training as a hunter, a field for which he has shown great potential and affinity. Congratulations Sharon! We look forward to celebrating your successes!

Confident and relaxed, L'Orien is attentive to the aids and nicely forward, but very sensible. He maintains a soft connection to the bridle and is consistent in his work. He has an easy going temperament and takes new experiences in stride. Professionally started in early 2009, and then put back out to pasture to grow, L'Orien is clearly happy to be back in work. He's by two time Brentina Cup winner and 2009 NEDA Year End Grand Prix Champion, Olivier, and grandson of the great Idocus previously ridden by Courtney King-Dye. Flashy and correct, L'Orien is typey while still having a substantial amount of bone.

He's uncomplicated and easily learns new lessons due to the eagerness with which he tackles his work. He's incredibly balanced and even for a horse of his age. We're currently training the First Level movements lengthening and leg yielding.

His handsome good looks, steady work undersaddle, and potential over fences suggest he could be a top notch hunter prospect as well. With only a couple of months of weekly free jumping sessions back in February and March '09 under his belt, L'Orien acted as if he'd been jumping all his life when recently started over obstacles undersaddle. The sad excuse of a rider on his back (me) hadn't jumped in about 10 years, but the consistency and eveness with which he went over jump after jump instilled confidence. He's had clean changes while free lunging since day one.

Carefully started and ready to finish your way. Excellent ground manners and very personable. He wants nothing more than to be the center of attention. This one will melt your heart.

He was a premium German Oldenburg Verband foal in 2006 and has shown in hand with scores over 80%. L'Orien is registered GOV and lifetime USEF and USDF. Currently 16.2hh. Please view his Dressage Video and his Jumping Video. Contact: moses@alum.mit.edu
